The device goes into "sleep mode" to conserve the battery when it has not moved for 30 minutes. The device will update the location when it is outside moving again. Each unit has a motion sensor and an accelerometer. When the unit is not moving it will go into a power conservation sleep mode setting. As long as the battery has a charge, the device will resume locating when it is outside and moving again.
The interface may say that the last time the device located it was in "sleep mode", but the battery may actually be drained to 0%. If the device has not charged, has not moved, and a significant time has passed since the last connection; the battery may be at 0%. An example is if the device located 24 hours ago with 15% battery at that time, but was not charged or moved again; the current battery will most likely be at 0%.
